Transforming to another world, or what is the easiest way to Edipsos, Evia?

Everyone knows Greece is a haven of beaches and natural beauty, but its real appeal is not only in the blue and turquoise water but in the simplicity of life. That slow rhythm that creeps up on you and forces you to relax. It’s in their culture (try to find someone around 2 pm, as they are all napping…), in their demeanor, never in a hurry, and everything should wait. It’s also in their food, the Greek salad is simple: tomato, cucumber, pepper, and Feta cheese. Perhaps a little bit of fresh oregano from the garden and a drizzle of delicious local olive oil. It will always be the same salad, give or take. Dishes are simple: fresh fried fish, fresh homemade yogurt, etc.
The best way to get to Edipsos is with the Ferry from Arkitza Port to Edipsos. It's less then an easy 1.45 hour drive from Athens to Arkitza port and it's a senic one. I easpecially love it in the spring with beautiful green mountains along the highway and the exciting electricity wind tourbine scattered alongside.
The ferry departs every two hours from Arkitza Port and in the season, more often. I have yet to figure out the rational or logic behind the additional ferries in July and August by you can usually count on the information here (if you're not fluent in Geek use Google Translate or Chat, that's what I do):
When I travel from Athens to Edipsos, there is always that moment when I board the ferry that transforms me into another world. I am now cruising for only 40 or 50 minutes through the calm bay water until I land in Edipsos.
It's easy breezy to board the ferry with my car, trying to ignore the fast temper of the ferry staff that are trying to rush me in Greek (I just nod my head as if I understand...). Once I boarded the ferry I try to stay on the deck to watch the ferry depart from my every day life and transform me into a place where calm meets my soul.
